SOAP Reading Psalm 22
TODAYS SOAP BIBLE READING - Psalm 22
[SCRIPTURE]
Psalm 22:1-2 NLT
“My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help? Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief.”
[OBSERVATION]
The psalmist felt forsaken by God, as he was surrounded by his enemies and persecuted. Even though he felt forsaken he knew God was faithful and worthy of our praise so he continued to pray.
This psalm has parallel resemblance to Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
[APPLICATION]
We too can cry out to God to find peace and comfort. We are shown time after time that God is always faithful.
In the midst of desolation, hostility, pain, death—we are reminded that Jesus was tested in every way just as we are.
Hebrews 4:15 NIV “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are---yet was without sin.”
[PRAYER]
God help me to seek you first when I’m struggling and experiencing hardship. Help me to put my trust and dependence on you and not on my own efforts.
